  • Description:

East India Company original flint cavalry pistol dated 1812.  This pattern pistol was built from 1811 to 1818.  This example shows the lockplate with the rampant lion EIC mark and crown over 2 markings.  The barrel is 9" showing clear proofs, gumaker's company proof and view mark.  The captive rod is a modern replacement.  This pistol was probably one of the thirty thousand pistols sold to Ordnance for the Napoleonic Wars (1794-1813). The Ordnance then issued the pistols to the various yeomanry units.
