  • Description:

This is an example of the early 2nd Pattern Commando knife.  This piece shows the 6 3/4" double edge blade with the Wilkinson Sword Co. London logo on one side and the FS acid etched fighting knife logo on the reverse.  The 2 1/8" guard shows no markings and remnants of the original blue.  The 5" grip shows the early style of checkered brass.  The blade shows the original bright polished steel with pitting along one of the leading edges and a portion of the guard.  This knife comes in its original scabbard with tabs and no markings.  The frog portion of the scabbard is stiff from storage and follows the contour of the grip.  A very good example of a commando dagger as carried and used by a Canadian member of a commando unit in WW2.  The frog is semidetached .Both pieces have been together since returned by a Canadian Vet from overseas.
