  Antique British Transitional revolver 44 caliber built circa 1850.  These were the transitional pieces from the multi barrel Pepperbox to the single barrel revolver.  This example shows the rebated cylinder with the general appearance of a Pepperbox barrel cluster.  The cylinder is numbered 1 to 6 cylinders, proofed and shows the typical Pepperbox bar hammer.  The frame shows the typical English engraving as does the butt cap, triggerguard and barrel base.  The grips show fine checkering.  The action functions, one nipple needs to be replaced.  An excellent example of a British Transitional revolver.
