British Military Galton Flint Pistol

    English flintlock pistol.  This pistol shows a 9" barrel and an overall length of 15 1/2".  The barrel shows a crown GR VR proof and crown with crossed septers.  This ties in with the maker, Samuel Galton ,1790-1812, London and Birmingham, a government contractor for holster pistols and muskets.  This piece was reconverted back to flint at some time by or for the prior owner.The wood is stained but does show the remnants of a storekeeper's mark above the tail of the lock.  The tang shows the crown 25 mark.  A British military pistol from the early 1800's era.  No rammer but was built for a wood rod. A representative British military antique pistol.
