  • Description:

SN7722 is a spandal 71/84 Mauser built in 1888. Myself and John Denner purchased approx. 300 of these rifles over 25 years ago on Quebec. The majority of these pieces were sold overseas due to little collector interest in Canada at tht time. This is one of the rifles from that lot. This piece shows a bright very good bore with some scattered corrosion. All matching numbers, mechanically sound. Faded original blue and bopped stacking rod. The wood is very good showing clear German and Q.H.G. markings on the right side of the butt. The large #24 was a later Regiment Zuave marking. When the home guard disbanded the guns and related material were turned over to the Zuave in Quebec City where they remained for approx. 70 tears. This is an example of one of the unique Canadian homeguard guns of the WW1 era. The wealthier Montreal Home guard were issued the savage 99 muskets.
