  • Description:

SN C85431 is an exceptional example of a Commerical 1911 Colt built in the first half of 1917.  This example shows 96-97% bright original blue.  This pistol is identified to it's original owner.  Engraved on the back strap is Captain P.G.R. Benson, West Somerset Yeomanry.  In addition the Colt rides in a U.S. Audley holster which is stamped with the same information.  Obviously, this Colt was not purchased in England as it bears no English proofs.  It was either acquired in the USA/Canada or shipped directly to Europe.  A Colt letter would indicate the shipping address.  The markings on the pistol are clear and crisp. The bore rates at bright excellent.  The grips are original rating as excellent.  The Audley holster remain in super condition leather and stiching and is of one of the scarcer Audley patterns.  A better than average example of a WW1 Colt 1911.
