Leather Covered Horn Powder Flask

    A unique 19th century flask for the ollector of flasks and related early material.  This piece was built by a maker with obvious talent.  The body of this example is horn with an exceptional pig skin leather cover. The body is scored with line decoration and the seam with thatch marks. The wood base is covered and shows decorative markings.  The brass collar is marked patent and is similar as the items 63 to 67 on page 269 of "The Powder Flask" by Riling.  The charger was modified to fit.  The spring is missing.  The brass shows all original petina.  A unique one of a kind type of horn flask.
