  • Caliber/Gauge: .410

  • Description:

SN 4184 is a Model 1. This was the 1st production Handy Gun within the approximate serial range to 4984. This piece is marked 410-12m/m cylinder bore, 8" barrel with the scarce, knurled cap over a threaded muzzle. The barrel is matching. This feature was designed to take a 6" barrel extension. This factory extension shows 2" of the same knurling as the cap and is choked to improved modified. Both pieces ride in an unmarked custom holster with the pocket for the barrel extension. The toe of the holster was modified to the cap and the barrel extension. This scarce, if not rare, Handy Gun was sourced out of New Brunswick. This unit was built in the early 1920's which was the great era of the American hunters coming to New Brunswick for the moose and deer. This is not a pistol that was sold by H&R Drummondville Quebec. This is probably a piece that came to Canada with an American hunter of the era. This is probably one of the scarcer Handy Guns to be found. This piece shows all original finish. The blue on the pistol shows speckling on the metal and some slight pitting. The wood shows obvious usage with scratches and edge chips. The extension shows dulled original blue.A rare piece for the H&R or Handy Gun Collector.(Restricted Status).
