  Sharps 1852 Carbine SN 2609 is one of 4997 built in this configeration .  These carbines were built from June 1853 to July of 1855.  This slat breech percussion 52 carbine shows the brass patchbox, buttplate and band.  This example shows all of its correct features including its original rear sight.  The action is complete and working .  This piece shows a strong bore with heavy rifling.  Unfortunately, this example shows overall fine pitting related to poor storage. The wood is sound and complete with the exception of the pellet primer.  A sound example as is or a carbine with great potential to restore.
