    Antique rare Canadian issue Starr Carbine WD broad arrow marked.  This is one of 228 carbines that remained with the Canadian militia.  The 21" barrel shows a bright very good to excellent bore in 52 caliber.  The barrel shows all of its' original blue with some speckling to the finish especially in the carry area around the rear site.  Clear barrel markings.  The receiver shows faded case color and sharp markings. The action is tight and crisp . The wood remains in excellent condition with a trace of the U.S. inspectors below the saddle ring and a crisp broad arrow WD on the right side of the butt. These carbines were acquired by the British for issue in Canada .  They were issued to the Royal Naval Forces in Nova Scotia, the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River.  228 of these carbines remained in Canada on the withdrawal of the British Forces in 1870.  A rare carbine military collector.  This item was acquired by the former owner in the late 1970's and has been in that collection to the present time.  Canadian Sales only.
