  U.S. Model 1835/42 socket bayonet (see page 198 of "Bayonets" by Janzen).  This piece shows 18" blade,  2 5/8" socket and the distinctive shank.  This piece shows the U.S. marks.  A very good to excellent example with slight cleanable spotting.
