  This item is a Martini-Henry converted artillery carbine MKII.  These carbines were all built from Mark II converted rifles.  This carbine is one of 38,407 as converted by the Ordnance. (Reference - Temple and Skennerton).  Caliber remained as 577/450. This piece shows a sound bore rating very good.  The metal is overall grey with metal/wood edge pitting.  The action is sound.  The stock disk is marked V.Y. WA 2 #287. One of the less common Martini carbines.
