Mauser K98K Kriegsmodell Rifle

• Description:

  SN 49831 F is a 1944 Mauser built (BYF) code rifle.  This piece is a late war rifle and shows the August 1944 deleted surface finishing.  Ref.- see page 73 Kriegsmodell K98K by Steves and Karem.  This example shows the late war stock with milling marks.  This action and bolt appear to be originally matching.  The front band is matching but rework matched.  As is the floorplate and triggerguard.  The rear sight assembly is mismatched.  The wood is matching on the underside of the butt. The proofs under the receiver serial are the German post 1950 SUHL proofs.  We have not removed the barrel from the stock, however it would appear that this Kriegsmodell was rebuilt in East Germany following WWII.  The bore in this Mauser rates bright "as new". Both the metal and wood finish rate as excellent.  Despite the fact that it has been reworked this rifle still remains as an excellent example of a late war Kriegsmodell K98 K and is a far better than average example.
